My picks of MS Subbulakshmi Amma (classical Carnatic & Devotional music)

August 22, 2013

Smt.  MS Subbulakshmi fondly called ‘MS Amma’  the doyen of Carnatic classical music of South India is since long gone but her rich legacy lingers on forever and forever, divine and eternal in spirit….. An ardent fan of hers (with very rudimentary knowledge in classical), i am soaking here in her soul-stirring renditions, unparalleled anywhere else in the world.  Music is a form of ‘bhakthi’ in our culture and for right reasons.

  1. Her Kurai Onrum Illai has no parallel….. I guess I learnt Bhavayami Raghu Ramam and Ranga Pura Vihara just by listening to them every day along with Venkateshwara Suprabhatam, Bhaja Govindam, and Vishnu Sahasranamam. 🙂

  2. Wow you are a terrific all-rounder! Me too learned of most of these things the same way. Even today day dawns for me with Venkatesa Suprabhatham.
