Don’t focus on what you don’t want, you will create it!

April 8, 2024

That was a lovely message, of particular interest to me, may be a specific message for me who knows, from a near-death experience narration of a lovely lady. The lady in question also confirmed multiple janams after ‘choosing to come back’ , as her purpose remained incomplete which is not a choice that comes everyone’s way. This confirms Hindu belief that our physical body is only our temporary abode. And just like our body, even our memory is a clothing we wear that can be removed from the atma. So when we exit our body, we also shed that particular memory of life associated with that particular janam/birth as we prepare for next. So Atman is purer: neither it has body, nor it has a mind. That mind which is intangible also is an impermanent component along with body that is gifted to us in every birth.

The Ambal Upasaka I was consulting years back said, in the Trishank Swarg/Narg – which is like intermediary heaven/hell for Hindus (not the ultimate destination which is Mukti/salvation), there are millions of souls awaiting judgment to be sent to either Swarg/Narag to enjoy fruits of good karma or repent for bad karma, and then queue for a vehicle (physical body) to be reborn on earth. Literally every square inch in the universe can have millions of souls crawling and jostling for space waiting for the body vehicle to take them back to earth. This is because, only repeated janams for thousands of times can finally cleanse our karma and get us closer to the level of self realization or Mukthi (nirvana) (that atman and brahman are one and the same). Fortunate ones among these millions of hopeful souls immediately enter the womb of a good woman as new life and begin their next journey. Their prayers from the previous birth or from multiple previous births may be answered this time or they may have to wait it out many more janams. Which is why praying is important. This is why we say, when we want something the universe conspires to achieve it for us. Whether it is love or a prosperous life or star status or talent or power, whatever you aspire in repeated janams may one day be realizable to you in one janam. This Upasaka said, he saw or rather visualized my mother in the Trishank swarg – not yet reborn, not known whether she will be reborn at all. Because he said some atmas (souls) may hang out for a while waiting for someone (in my mother’s case it could be me) and then proceed for next birth or straight to Mukti (Nirvana state) without rebirth depending on their accumulated Karma. He said all this without knowing my mother’s name, knowing nothing about us, recalling all the names of our ancestors who cannot be traced by hacking/stalking in the internet or by googling. He laid down our family history just like that. He is not a tantrik, not tech savvy, nothing of that sort but just a sincere Ambal devotee to who Mother speaks but who is not popular and is not bent on achieving fame or money. He said, he was strictly an Ambal Upasaka to who Devi spoke because he reached a level in connecting to Her. A lot of Hindu philosophies and beliefs tally with the near-death experience cases – some of which include rebirths. The word reincarnation is best left to Divine Avatars but it is true atman is the same as Brahman or part of.

Anyway the way the lady spoke of was so realistic, practical and convincing. She seems to have become emotional narrating her story which has to be genuine. Those of us who feel certain vibes know how and why these can be truth and nothing else. Extremely conscious or sensitive children losing their parents at an younger age can pick up signs from long lost parents but you have to keep your eyes and ears open and throw logic out of the windows. I can relate so much to this real life experience even if I have not experienced it myself. A lot of it makes sense and those of us who are kind of spiritually open for this kind of beliefs strongly can readily identify with it all. For me, this is like reading from a text book in preparation for an exam I shall have to face someday. EVeryone is born with a higher purpose and that purpose is not really the car or bungalow or star status or social standing of belonging with a billionaire club. Our part has more to do with touching lives around us and influencing them even if we may not be aware of the changes we leave in our wake. The purpose of our lives is this: creating this wave of ripples even if not outright transformations.

So every birth comes with a body and a dress called memory of that life (which means life experiences). The atman sheds both the body and the mind (memory) when exiting this world. Atman is free of both the physical and mental attachments that come withe temporary time on earth. Atman is made of multiple janams like our current one and this janam in no way is special to us. EVery birth has a different body and mind set. Like the lady said, time in the nether is non linear which means, our 24 hours may be a second and not even a minute out there. Or there is a different plane of time. This is why souls wait for rebirth as for them this waiting period could be mere months and in rare cases centuries. A good soul finds the next vehicle (body) for rebirth much quicker that’s all – which is a mother’s womb. Landing in a good mother’s womb means good karma. Implanting in a womb to take on an excruciatingly painful life can also be a chosen assignment willingly opted for by the soul to cleanse previously accumulated karmas. Its like we choose our projects. So this birth in America can also mean the next birth in Belgian Congo as even chimpanzee! The lowering to 5 senses happens when the quotient of bad karma exceeds that of good karma significantly.

Well, this is my little understanding of Karma, rebirth, Mukthi etc. Mukti is when we blend with the collective conscience as the god in us assumes proportions while the animal (man) in us becomes insignificant or trivial. Everyone strives to achieve that Mukthi therefore. I may be wholly or partly right or wrong hahaha. But anyway this is my take!

Consciously or unconsciously we assume more Karma when we are here actually to spend the accumulated Karma of many janams! Our purpose first of all is to expend what we already carry as big baggage with us and NOT add more load to it.

Thanks to the wonderful and graceful lady who so beautifully explained it all well with her own life experiences.

It doesn’t matter who wants us or who wants us out. To me, my mission in life is clear and that is NOT money or car or jewel or clothes or friends circle or a big home. May be once it mattered but no more. My focus is on only one thing: trying to cut down on my previous Karma and not build more. I know none of these people who I have in my life today may matter to me in my future janams. Or a few can, if they want to or have to. Remember, whatever you TAKE more than what is obligatory for others to give you, you have to repay with interest in multiple janams which may all not be pleasing experiences. Accountability and responsibility and basic human decency and integrity – these are not mere words. All this constitute your Karma and are already working at creating the next Karmic janam/rebirth for you. Detachment in attachment: practising this already. If doors close, it means My Mother Goddess is giving me a lesson in detachment, that’s all. It has got nothing to do with the loveless. See how the lady says how even the medical report is determined by her will to live that had nothing to do with the medical equipment or science or machinery or even modern medicine. Many of us overrate ourselves crediting self with laurels while at every instance there is this invisible hand playing its part. I was reading this book ‘The Goat life’ where the Kerala muslim man puts his complete faith in god believing that good things will happen to him. Even the wrong road he takes actually leads him to safety and away from his recapture which hell he fled. Even if I am a Hindu, that kind of faith moves me totally. So we think we did this, we did that, while in cosmic world, something undefinable may be stopping me from traveling, something supernatural may be saving me from worse fates. So for everything that does not materialize, for every tie broken, for every betrayal, for every promise not kept, for every disappointment, for every act of selfishness that deprives us of our spot unfairly unjustly, be happy because that is how it is scripted. That is what shall make you opt out. We don;t know the grander designs. We can see only the tools used for the purpose, not the entire picture. That is my kind of Hindu faith. Unshakeable. Like the ant and the boot story.

So you see nothing bothers me nowadays. This is what my Puja is all about. This is what my Mother Goddess shows me everyday. To mortals, the rituals are a stepping stone to better understanding, nothing more. One thing that brings a smile to my face always is THE SMALLNESS OF PEOPLE who assume so much self-importance and really believe they wield power or influence over actions concerning others. The loveless, the ungrateful, the disloyal, the lying, the manipulative cruellas of the world : this skin deep character immature bunch will also one day grow up and come to realize true purpose of life.
